CLAUDIO
Claudio Marini, part of the husband-and-wife team behind Da Claudio, is a seasoned New York City restaurateur originally from Sanremo, Italy. Educated in Italy’s respected hotel school system and experienced in 5-star hospitality, Claudio arrived in New York in 1989 with a passion for service and a dream of creating a warm, welcoming neighborhood restaurant. He launched a successful panini and pasta shop in Midtown before opening Caffe Linda in 1998. Together, he and Linda later owned and operated Barbarini Alimentari & Mercato in the Seaport, a cherished downtown destination until it was destroyed during Superstorm Sandy. Their resilience and commitment to the community led them to rebuild on Ann Street, where they created Da Claudio, now one of the top Italian restaurants in the Financial District. Claudio is known for his warm hospitality, deep understanding of service, and dedication to creating a comfortable, community-driven environment. His passion for Italian traditions, personal connections, and exceptional guest experience continues to define Da Claudio as a standout destination for Italian dining in FiDi.
LINDA
Linda Chen Marini, the woman owner and Claudio’s wife whose warmth and partnership bring Da Claudio’s community-centered spirit to life in FiDi, brings a sophisticated blend of cultural fluency, business experience, and hospitality talent to this family-owned Italian restaurant in NYC. She is also the restaurant’s wine buyer, selecting organic, biodynamic, and sustainably produced Italian wines that enhance Da Claudio’s seasonal Italian menu while honoring her deep appreciation for Italy’s culinary and cultural traditions. Born in Urumqi and raised in New York City, Linda became fluent in Italian while studying at university in Rome, where she developed a deep connection to Italian culture, cuisine, and regional traditions. A graduate of LaGuardia High School and FIT, she built an early career as a buyer at Barneys New York, refining her skills in branding, visual design, operations, and customer experience. Linda now applies her vision and expertise to Da Claudio’s guest experience, ambiance, wine program, and community presence. Under her leadership, Da Claudio stands proudly as a woman-owned business and as one of the most welcoming and consistently highly reviewed Italian restaurants in the Financial District.
